Sonnenschein Ranked the Number One Law Firm For Women in Harvard Study

September 11, 2006

Sonnenschein is ranked number one in the country in Presumed Equal: What America's Top Women Lawyers Really Think About Their Firms, a survey  conducted by members of the Women's Law Association at Harvard Law School.  The survey, sent to 16,000 women attorneys at the nation's 105 largest law firms, asked women attorneys to rate their own law firms on issues such as leadership and advancement opportunities, work-life balance, mentoring and diversity.

Sonnenschein received a 90.34 of 100 possible points, which is the highest firm score nationally.  An inclusive workplace at Sonnenschein is not a recent development.  This survey is the third Presumed Equal assessment conducted by Harvard law students.  The first was in 1995 and the second in 1998.   In 1998, the firm also was ranked the number one law firm for women.  Then, Sonnenschein received an 88.2 ranking, and the surveys authors note that our women attorneys described Sonnenschein as a collegial and supportive firm where women are offered equal opportunities for advancement and career development.  -- Suzanne Nossel and Elizabeth Westfall, Presumed Equal: What America's Top Women Lawyers Really Think About Their Firms, p. 316.

We salute our women, their talent and successes and remain committed to developing and supporting all of our lawyers in an atmosphere that allows them to flourish.
