Gary Hernandez Named One of the 25 Most Influential Hispanics in the Bay Area

Gary Hernandez

December 7, 2005

Gary Hernandez, a partner in Sonnenschein's San Francisco office, recently was awarded a Latino Business Leadership Award from the San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFHCC).  The Latino Business Leadership Awards highlight significant achievements in corporate America, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, health care, media and government from emerging leaders.  Gary's professional and civic accomplishments, as well as his outstanding commitment to the Hispanic community, have made him one of the 25 most influential Hispanics in the Bay Area as selected by high-profile community leaders.  The selection committee, comprised of eight community leaders, had difficulty determining the 25 individuals worthy of such a distinguished award.

Currently, 1.4 million Latino residents in the Bay Area represent 21 percent of the total population.  As the Hispanic community continues to grow, its people and businesses impact all Bay Area residents on a large scale.

According to his profile that appeared in the San Francisco Business Times supplement on the Latino Business Leadership Awards, Gary was listed as one of the entrepreneurs who is "Opening Doors to Educational Opportunity."  He is recognized as one of the few Latino managing partners of a top-50 national law firm and for his more than 1,000 hours a year spent serving on boards.  Gary is on the board of the California Coastal Conservancy and is a trustee with the University of California's Merced Foundation and the Latino Community Foundation.  This year, Gary was also named a "California Lawyer of the Year" by California Lawyer magazine (see link:  http://www.sonnenschein.com/docs/order4248e.pdf)

At Sonnenschein, Gary practices insurance regulatory and administrative law.  He has substantial experience in handling state regulatory compliance, company and agency formation, and regulatory approval and administrative law matters on behalf of insurers and holding companies.

Sonnenschein congratulates Gary Hernandez on his exceptional achievements as a business and community leader.
