Sonnenschein Receives Circle of Humanitarians Award from the American Red Cross

May 5, 2006

Sonnenschein recently received the Circle of Humanitarians award from the American Red Cross for the firm's contributions to tsunami and hurricane relief efforts.  The award is the highest honor presented by the American Red Cross to donors for an organization’s humanitarian efforts.  Last year, Sonnenschein and its people contributed more than $375,000 to the American Red Cross for the Katrina Relief Fund alone.  This amount does not include our many separate, individual contributions of money, clothing and other necessary goods and services.

Jeffrey C. Fort (third from left), Chair of Sonnenschein's Environmental & Energy Practice, accepted the award on behalf of the firm from William F. (Rick) Grinnan, Jr. (second from left), Member of the American Red Cross Board of Governors.  Also pictured are Lynette Sappe-Watkins (far left), Senior Officer for Leadership Fundraising, American Red Cross, and Terry L. Scott (far right), Sonnenschein Legal Secretary.  Terry coordinated a bake sale in Sonnenschein's Chicago Office to help raise donations for Hurricane Katrina relief.
