Sonnenschein's larger practice groups conduct professional development and training seminars for all interested lawyers to discuss matters currently being handled by lawyers in the group and new developments in the law especially relevant to the practice group. In addition, they conduct training seminars especially designed for newer lawyers. Summer associates are encouraged to participate in the seminars held during the summer. Many of these programs are broadcast live through a videoconference or teleconference to multiple offices.
Many professional development seminars are recorded and are available for viewing in the library in Chicago. Copies can be made for attorneys in the other offices who are interested. An index of all available videotapes and DVDs can be obtained from the Chicago Office library.
Sonnenschein's New York and San Francisco offices are Privileged Members of the Practicing Law Institute. Privileged Membership allows attorneys in those offices to attend an unlimited number of PLI programs.
Smaller practice groups, such as Tax, Labor, Employee Benefits, Bankruptcy and Health Care, have regular, more informal meetings to discuss current matters and new developments in the law. Lawyers wishing to be notified of these meetings should contact the head of the practice group.
