"Image of a Turf War -- Doctors Take Aim Against Self-Referrals for MRI's, CT Scans"
May 5, 2006
Sonnenschein partner
Howard Rubin is profiled in the May 5, 2006 edition of
The Daily Record, Maryland's Business and Legal News publication. Howard is representing a group of specialty doctors in this litigation on behalf of the Maryland Patient Care and Access Coalition (and 14 physician practice groups) to protect the right of patients to receive standard of care imaging (MRI and CT scans) in the office of their physician of choice.
“This issue has a very big impact for doctors and for patients, and the issue of patient access is critical to this entire debate,” explains Rubin. If his clients were to lose, Rubin says, patients “would be denied access to standard of care practices that patients throughout the country and throughout Maryland have come to expect and actually receive.”
