May 1, 2007

Sonnenschein partner Josh Berman will co-present "Establishing Critical Controls For Routine Interactions – Solving Dilemmas Related to Healthcare Professionals, Charities and Political Activities" during the American Conference Institute's Anti-Corruption for Pharma and Life Sciences Conference on May 1, 2007, in New York City.  Josh's presentation will include:
  • Identifying the more routine risks under the FCPA and local anti-bribery laws in connection with routine interactions with healthcare professionals
  • Maintaining the important pharma/life sciences corporate mission of charitable giving while complying with the FCPA and local laws
      - responding to government inquiries about charitable gifts
      - ensuring charities are legitimate before giving
  • Using political contributions as tools of legitimate influence in light of DOJ’s opinion that this is a high risk area
  • What types of controls does the government expect pharma/life sciences companies to have in place?
  • Maintaining compliance controls without putting the company at a competitive disadvantage
