Sonnenschein’s Patent Litigation Group has over 50 attorneys, including more than 35 registered patent attorneys, former Federal Circuit clerks, patent examiners, and trial court clerks.  We routinely represent clients in complex patent actions, many of which involve multiple patents and jurisdictions.  Collectively, our attorneys have litigated nearly 200 patent cases in district courts across the country and regularly appear before the United States International Trade Commission (ITC).

Skilled Advocacy
The Patent Litigation Group offers clients seasoned, trial-tested attorneys who focus exclusively on patent litigation.  Unlike some patent litigation practices, our attorneys possess both technical expertise and extensive trial experience.  As a result, we quickly grasp the complex technologies at issue in the cases we litigate.  That in turn allows Sonnenschein’s Patent Litigation Group to try cases more efficiently for our clients.

International Scope
The Patent Litigation Group includes a group of experienced ITC litigators, including former ITC attorney-advisors, who frequently appear in “Section 337” investigations.  Having litigated before the ITC for years, Sonnenschein Patent Litigation Group lawyers have successfully tried Section 337 patent infringement actions involving semiconductors, software, consumer electronics, and pharmaceuticals.  Consequently, Sonnenschein’s Patent Litigation Group is experienced in litigating cases involving entities residing outside the United States, particularly in Taiwan and China.

Technical and Industry Experience
The Patent Litigation Group is composed of lawyers who are graduates of some of the nation’s leading law schools and graduate institutions.  Our patent attorneys possess bachelor's degrees and advanced degrees in various fields including engineering, computer science, and biochemistry.

Full-service Firm Support
Clients utilizing the services of the Patent Litigation Group also can benefit from the services offered by Sonnenschein’s other practice groups, including the Intellectual Property & Technology Group and the Asia Pacific practice.
