Alisa M. Berman Joins Sonnenschein's Internet, Communications & Data Protection Group
Alisa M. Bergman joins in the Washington, D.C. office and comes to Sonnenschein as a leading authority on international data privacy, internet advertising and marketing law and policy, and children’s privacy issues. Bergman represents companies, nonprofits, and industry groups before Congress, federal agencies, and state legislatures on privacy, data security, and e-commerce matters. Marc Zwillinger and Randy Sabett Named to Commission on Cyber Security for the 44th Presidency
Marc J. Zwillinger and Randy V. Sabett have been named to a national, bipartisan commission made up of 32 top cyber security experts. The Commission on Cyber Security for the 44th Presidency is tasked with exploring the existing federal security policies and infrastructure and then building a set of practical recommendations for ways the next president can improve the state of cyber security. more

Kansas City partner Mark P. Johnson joins Sonnenschein's Policy & Planning Committee on November 1, 2007. He will play a significant role in fostering the committee's strategic and growth initiatives. Mr. Johnson's practice concentrates on communications, media and employment relations. Mr. Johnson has been with Sonnenschein since 1994, when he helped opened the firm's Kansas City office. He was a member of the firm's Legal Development Committee from 1994 to 2003.

Sonnenschein Hosts Live CPNI Webinar
On June 7, 2007, Marc J. Zwillinger discussed the far-reaching implications of the CPNI rules recently adopted by the FCC and the necessary steps to establish internal protocols to ensure compliance. Telecommunications carriers, Voice-over-Internet Protocol providers, and third parties that serve such entities will be directly impacted by these new rules, which take effect only six months from publication in the Federal Register or Office of Management and Budget approval, whichever is later.

IC&DP Group Successfully Represents Advertising.com
A U.S. District Judge recently granted a motion to dismiss on behalf of our client, Advertising.com. The class action complaint alleged that Advertising.com and a third party engaged in "click fraud" in connection with online ad placements. The Court dismissed the case against Advertising.com in its entirety. Sonnenschein partner Christian Genetski represented our client.

Randy Sabett Joins Group in Washington
Partner Randy Sabett, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), has joined the group in our Washington, D.C. office. Sabett's practice focuses on information security compliance issues, data breach prevention, and counseling on liability for Internet technology. He works with clients on such issues as privacy, identity theft, and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and Gramm-Leach-Bliley laws, along with state information security laws. A registered U.S. patent attorney and former crypto engineer, Sabett also prepares and prosecutes patents in such technology areas as authentication, information security, and encryption. Russell Shumway Joins Group as Senior Computer Crime Analyst in Washington, D.C.
Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP has announced that Russell Shumway has joined the law firm as a Senior Computer Crime Analyst in its Washington, D.C. office. Shumway has provided information security counseling to a wide range of private and public sector clients throughout the United States and Europe and was a member of the U.S. Army's Computer Emergency Response Team.
