Sonnenschein has over 50 full-time health care lawyers. In many cases, these attorneys have spent their entire careers in private practice as outside counsel to health care organizations. In other cases, Group attorneys previously worked for providers as in-house counsel, administrators, and clinicians. Our team also includes an impressive array of former, senior HHS and DOJ officials, including D. McCarty (Mac) Thornton (who served for 12 years as Chief Counsel to the HHS OIG) and Bruce Merlin Fried (who served as the Director of both HCFA’s Center for Health Plans and Providers and HCFA’s Office of Managed Care).
