Group Purchasing Organizations

Sonnenschein's Health Care Practice Group attorneys have extensive experience representing group purchasing organizations (GPOs) and GPO alliances in connection with a wide range of legal issues unique to this sector of the health care industry.  Among other things:

  • The Firm helps GPOs ensure that their various business arrangements, contracts, and marketing initiatives comply with anti-kickback, antitrust, Medicare program, and other Federal and State health care program laws and regulations.
  • Sonnenschein attorneys develop and help implement tailored corporate compliance programs for GPOs, and provide associated training to GPO management and employees.
  • Health Care Practice Group attorneys defend GPOs in connection with Federal and State administrative, civil and criminal audits, investigations and litigation.
  • Firm attorneys handle sophisticated corporate health care transactions on behalf of GPOs.  For example, the Firm drafts membership, purchase, operating, and joint venture agreements between and among GPOs, GPO members, suppliers that contract with GPOs, and other GPO partners and affiliates.
  • Group attorneys counsel GPOs with respect to their interactions with Federal and State legislative bodies and regulatory authorities, including the U.S. Senate and Federal Trade Commission.
