Sonnenschein's approach to the current uncertainty facing the financial markets is based on our existing client service model.  We are meeting the needs of our clients by delivering subject matter expertise in a wide range of legal and business disciplines in an integrated and seamless way.  Attorneys in our Real Estate, Corporate, Banking, Public Policy, Bankruptcy, Health Care, Tax and Insurance Regulatory practices, along with many others, are actively collaborating on client updates and analysis, and working side by side to answer our client's questions about the applicability of Treasury programs, Federal Reserve funding facilities and other new initiatives to their business operations.  Our team is currently providing direct assistance to clients in the following areas:

  • Applicability of the Capital Purchase Program (CPP) to insurers and other entities beyond depository institutions
  • Valuation and analysis of asset portfolios
  • Analysis of the impact of credit market uncertainty to financial covenants
  • Policy analysis of Treasury and other regulatory proposals
  • Updates on Congressional oversight and influence over Emergency Economic Stability Act (EESA) and TARP programs
  • Regulatory counsel to financial institutions, corporations, debt holders and insurers
  • Drafting and counseling on regulatory comments related to Treasury programs
  • Counseling and advisory assistance related to proposed conversion/status change to bank holding companies or other types of financial institutions

Our client base for these initiatives is incredibly diverse, encompassing large national insurers, regional financial institutions, asset holders, asset management firms, associations and individual holders of securities or debt instruments.  We would welcome the opportunity to discuss how our multidisciplinary team can best assist you in navigating the current regulatory and political environment.
