Our lawyers regularly represent property owners, developers, managers and investors on environmental matters. We assist our property manager clients on a wide range of issues, including those related to exposure to hazardous materials (such as lead-based paint, asbestos, and indoor air pollution), permitting compliance, hazardous materials use, and mold. Our clients turn to us to develop plans for managing environmental liability, and structuring and supporting environmental management programs.
Our work with property developers is extensively described in the "Brownfields" Section of this site. For our clients, we have facilitated property restoration, redevelopment, reuse, and sale. We work extensively with federal, state, and local regulators to develop creative and often non-traditional approaches to address environmentally impacted properties. Our recent projects include development of the largest undeveloped tract in the New York City metropolitan area, which required extensive remediation, and the expansion of a large retail mall in the Milwaukee area, on property once used as a sanitary landfill.
