Ranked Nationally as Underwriter's Counsel for Municipal Bonds Sonnenschein's Public Finance group was ranked 23rd by volume of municipal bond closings for 2007 by The American Lawyer, having served as underwriter's counsel on $3.6 billion of municipal bonds. Sonnenschein Hosts Fund Valuation Event in New York Sonnenschein's Fund Services Group will host an event titled "Hot Topics in Valuation," discussing current issues in the valuation of illiquid investments in our New York office on May 15. This event is presented in conjunction with Sterling Valuation Group, a leading provider of independent valuation services for the hedge fund industry. Sonnenschein partners Anthony L. Perricone, Edward S. Grenville and Carole Neville are speaking, along with Murray Grenville, CEO of Sterling. Mike Froy Speaks at Ray Garrett Jr. Corporate and Securities Law Institute Sonnenschein partner Mike Froy will participate in the panel " Doing Deals in Emerging Markets" at the 28th annual Ray Garrett Jr. Corporate and Securities Law Institute at Northwestern Law in Chicago on May 2. The panel will address key issues in M&A and joint ventures, overcoming barriers to getting deals done, and diligence, compliance and cultural issues. Sonnenschein Closes SPAC Deal in India Sonnenschein represented Millennium India Acquisition Co., a special purpose acquisition company, in its acquisition of a 14.75 percent equity interest in both SMC Global Securities Ltd. and SAM Global Securities Ltd. To consummate the deal under both Indian and U.S. law, Millennium was required to register as an investment company and seek an exemption, rarely granted by the S.E.C., to acquire greater than a 5 percent interest in a financial services firm.
