(CHICAGO, July 12, 2010) -- Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP today announced the addition of Stephen D. Libowsky as a partner in its Chicago office. Libowsky, who practices in the areas of complex commercial and antitrust litigation, comes to Sonnenschein from Howrey LLP. He becomes the latest of several lateral partners or professionals to join the firm since it announced its pending combination to form SNR Denton in September.
“Steve is a seasoned litigator who adds an incredible breadth and range of experience, particularly in the antitrust area,” said John Grossbart, managing partner of Sonnenschen’s Chicago office and a member of its Litigation practice. “Steve’s joining us is part of an aggressive strategy to expand the reach of our Chicago office, and we are delighted to have him here.”
Libowsky’s antitrust work covers counseling and litigation representation in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, relationships with competitors, distribution matters and unfair competition. He has significant experience in markets for recorded music, beef and cattle, newspapers, television stations, information retrieval, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, sports and entertainment, and the manufacturing industries.
Libowsky also advises clients on a wide variety of financial and business issues, including securities, bankruptcy, insolvency and rehabilitation proceedings. He has represented clients on matters involving tender offers, mergers and corporate acquisitions. Libowsky had been with Howrey since 2002. Prior to that, he worked at Kattan Muchin Rosenman LLP.

Libowsky received a J.D. degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and a B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University.
