September 15, 2009
(PHOENIX, September 15, 2009) — Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP announced today that energy development expert Tracey A. LeBeau has joined the national law firm as a senior managing director in its Energy & Regulated Industries Practice. LeBeau will reside in Sonnenschein’s Phoenix office and lead the firm’s renewable energy practice. She comes to Sonnenschein from Red Mountain Energy Partners, a Phoenix-based energy technical consultancy firm of which she is a partner and co-founder.
“Tracey’s background in energy investment and development will significantly expand the scope of services that we offer to our clients,” said Clinton A. Vince, chair of Sonnenschein’s Energy & Regulated Industries Practice. “With 60 attorneys and other professionals working on energy projects and policy nationwide, we are now leading the way in this very important area, including more recently helping clients access funds authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.”
LeBeau advises clients on a wide range of energy issues, including wind, solar and transmission development; oil and gas exploration; midstream projects; and conventional electric generation. Much of her work involves renewable and conventional energy infrastructure projects, and she has years of experience with energy development management and advisory work, development agreement and site control negotiations, and permitting and transmission interconnection advise.
Prior to founding Red Mountain, LeBeau was vice president of the private equity firm Innovation Investments, where she originated and managed initial development of several large-scale wind projects in the Midwest. Earlier in her career, LeBeau served as vice president of Earth Energy Environment, LLC, managing natural gas, gas processing and wind development projects in the United States and Canada. She also was a director at Kansas Pipeline Company, an interstate pipeline operating company, and at American Energy Solutions, a national gas and electricity marketing firm.
“The combined strength of Sonnenschein’s energy, energy tax, project finance and tribal law practices is unmatched anywhere else,” said LeBeau. “I am thrilled to be part of Sonnenschein’s energy team as it expands its footprint across the country.”
LeBeau is the author of numerous articles on energy and tribal law and serves in leadership capacities with several national renewable energy consortia, councils and organizations. She is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. She received a J.D. degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and an A.B. degree from Stanford University.
