Sonnenschein Expands Real Estate Practice in New York

(NEW YORK, January 28, 2008)—Real estate attorney David A Viklund has joined Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP as a partner in its New York office, the national law firm announced today.  Viklund, whose practice focuses on real estate finance, comes to Sonnenschein from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, where he was a special counsel in the global finance practice in London.

"David is an exceptionally talented attorney, with extensive experience in both securitized and syndicated lending," said Gary Goodman, chair of Sonnenschein's New York Real Estate Group.  "With clients that include some of the world's largest and most prestigious lending institutions, he is a valuable addition to our team."

Viklund represents investment banks in the origination of mortgage loans secured by income producing properties, including loans intended for securitization and syndication.  He also represents clients in the origination of mezzanine loans and preferred equity investments, and advises on the real estate aspects of corporate credit facilities.  In addition, he counsels real estate investors regarding the acquisition, disposition and financing of real estate projects.

Viklund received a J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law, where he was a member of the St. John's Law Review, and a B.A. degree from Muhlenberg College.
