Sonnenschein Represents Link_A_Media Devices in $22 Million Series B Funding

April 17, 2008

(MENLO PARK, Calif., April 17, 2008) — Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP announced today that the law firm represented Link_A_Media Devices Corporation, a fabless semiconductor company focused on data recovery and transport technologies for storage devices, in its $22 million Series B funding.  The funding round was led by AIG SunAmerica Ventures and additionally included financial investor KeyNote Ventures and strategic corporate investors NEC Electronics, Micron Technology, Inc., and Seagate Technology.

William Choe, a partner in Sonnenschein’s Corporate and Venture Technology practices who is based in the firm’s Silicon Valley office, led the deal, which closed in the first quarter of 2008.  In addition to Choe, the Sonnenschein team included Corporate associate Sachin Adarkar and Intellectual Property & Technology partner Ed Marquette.  AIG SunAmerica Ventures was represented by the WilmerHale.

“It was a multi-faceted and challenging deal, including conducting separate negotiations with the several strategic investors in addition to the venture capital investors,” said Choe. “We are pleased to have acted as legal advisor to Link_A_Media Devices in this very important transaction for them.”

According to figures reported in Dow Jones’ Private Equity Analyst, Sonnenschein’s Venture Technology Group was recently listed among the top 10 firms nationally for the number of venture capital deals closed in 2007.
