April 8, 2008

(WASHINGTON, April 8, 2008) - Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP today announced the addition of David R. Siddall as a partner to its Internet, Communications & Data Protection Group.  Siddall joins the national law firm’s Washington, D.C. office from Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP.

Siddall concentrates his practice on representing and advising wireless, satellite, and broadcast licensees, cable operators and communications equipment and device manufacturers on regulatory policy and compliance issues before the Federal Communications Commission, Congress, and executive branch agencies.  He focuses on spectrum-based services and equipment, such as digital television, digital radio, wireless LAN and medical devices.

“David is a veteran lawyer whose expertise is a terrific complement to our communications practice,” notes Marc Zwillinger, national chair of Sonnenschein’s Internet, Communications & Data Protection Group.  “Firm clients will benefit greatly from his ability to navigate the intricacies of the FCC and National Telecommunications and Information Administration  to address their communications regulatory needs.”

“Sonnenschein’s Internet, Communications & Data Protection Group has earned its place among the very best in the field, with a reputation for providing innovative solutions in a dynamic industry,” says Siddall.  “I am proud to join a team that has such an elite reputation for excellence and results.”

As of counsel at Paul Hastings, Siddall advised a wide range of companies engaged in wireless, satellite and broadcast communications, and manufacturers of wireless medical devices and unlicensed WiFi, broadband-over-powerline (BPL) and similar devices.  Before entering private practice, he served for more than 12 years at the FCC in a variety of key roles in which he helped formulate major FCC policy decisions governing a variety of new and existing services.  These roles include legal advisor to former FCC Commissioner Susan Ness for wireless, media, and international issues, chief of spectrum management, assistant chief of the Mass Media Bureau, and lead counsel for advanced digital television policy.

Siddall received a J.D. degree from George Washington University and a B.A. degree from Lindenwood University.
