Corporate Lawyer Lisa Weiss Joins Sonnenschein in New York

(NEW YORK, March 17, 2008)-- Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP announced today that Lisa Weiss has joined the national law firm as a partner in its Corporate Practice Group. Weiss, who will reside in Sonnenschein’s New York office, focuses on media, entertainment and technology transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, venture capital, and licensing and distribution deals. She comes to Sonnenschein from Morrison & Foerster LLP.
“Lisa has an expertise in areas of great importance to us, including content licensing, technology transfer and new media,” said Paul A. Gajer, national chair of Sonnenschein’s Corporate Practice Group. “She has built an impressive practice, and we are very happy to have her here.”
Weiss represents companies in the music, film, games, digital media, technology and services sectors. She has handled transactions involving cable television, direct marketing, advertising and the Internet, as well as cross border deals with companies in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Prior to working at Morrison & Foerster, she served as general counsel of Sony Music Entertainment Inc. and Sony BMG Music Entertainment, where she was instrumental in structuring the merger that created Sony BMG Music Entertainment as the world’s second largest recorded music company.
