Former JPMorgan Chase Executive Penny Rostow Joins Sonnenschein's Public Law and Policy Strategies Group

(WASHINGTON, October 28, 2005) -- Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP today announced that Victoria “Penny” Rostow is the newest partner of the firm’s fast-growing Public Law & Policy Strategies Group. Most recently, Rostow was senior vice president and co-head of federal government relations at JPMorgan Chase & Co., responsible for both political strategy and for all federal, regulatory and legislative issues relating to the company’s investment bank and Chase Mortgage.

Rostow’s extensive legal experience also includes privacy, credit card and retail banking, investment advisory services, mutual funds and asset management, retirement services and securities trading. Additionally, she has assisted clients with legislative, regulatory and policy matters involving technology and e-commerce sectors. Rostow also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs for Domestic Finance and Banking at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she lead the department’s legislative initiative culminating in the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

Rostow is a frequent speaker before professional and trade associations and often provides expert commentary on topics including risk management and controls, foreign investment, privacy, congressional policy and political outlook, campaigns and compliance with campaign finance laws. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, as well as the Federal Bar Association and its Banking Committee Executive Council and the American Law Institute. She is also a board member of the Oxford-Cambridge Committee and the Exchequer Club.
Rostow received a J.D. degree from Yale Law School, where she was senior editor of the Yale Law Journal and an officer of Yale Legislative Services. She earned a B.A. degree in history, magna cum laude, from Yale College and an M.A. degree in economics from King’s College, University of Cambridge.
Rostow clerked for Judge Reinhardt on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. She also served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown Law School, where she taught healthcare regulation and alternative dispute resolution.
