Environmental Attorney Kevin Haroff Joins Sonnenschein

February 1, 2005

(SAN FRANCISCO, February 1, 2005)—Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP today announced Kevin T. Haroff has joined the law firm as a partner in its San Francisco office and a member of the firm’s national Environmental practice group.

“Kevin is one of the leading environmental lawyers in Northern California,” said Paul Glad, managing partner of Sonnenschein’s San Francisco office.  “His expertise in international environmental law, particularly as it relates to Asia, should prove especially valuable to our clients.”

Haroff advises technology firms, manufacturers and governmental entities on a wide range of environmental and land-use issues, including air and water quality, water supply management, endangered species and wetlands, environmental cleanup and cost recovery.  He also represents clients in high-profile environmental and toxic tort litigation in both state and federal courts.

Haroff regularly addresses national legal conferences and seminars on current environmental and natural resource issues, and he has spoken on Chinese environmental law issues at conferences in both the United States and China.  He has been named one of the top environmental lawyers in Silicon Valley by San Jose Magazine and a “Super Lawyer” among environmental practitioners in Northern California by San Francisco Magazine.

“Sonnenschein has a solid and growing environmental practice,” explained Haroff.  “I am delighted to be part of such an impressive group of lawyers.”

Haroff joins Sonnenschein’s environmental law and litigation practice in San Francisco, which consists of eight lawyers, including environmental partners Nicholas C. Yost and Lynda Brothers.  The practice represents clients in a wide array of environmental matters, including adjudicative proceedings, corporate and real estate transactions, and counseling on the avoidance or minimization of environmental liability.  The firm represents clients before federal and state courts and regulatory agencies in connection with both government and private-party suits, as well as negotiating alternative agreements.  Its lawyers develop plans for managing environmental liability, facilitating new project and product development, and structuring and supporting environmental management programs.

Haroff received his law degree from Cornell Law School.  He also has a graduate degree in business and public administration from Cornell’s Johnson School of Management.  Most recently, he was with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P., where he led the firm’s West Coast environmental and natural resources practice.

Sonnenschein, with more than 700 attorneys and other professionals in nine U.S. cities and a global reach, serves the legal needs of many of the world’s largest and best-known businesses, nonprofits and individuals.  For more information, visit www.sonnenschein.com.
