James Hsu Joins Sonnenschein in Los Angeles

(LOS ANGELES, May 2, 2005)—Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP today announced that James Hsu has joined the law firm as a partner in its Los Angeles office and a member of the firm’s national Corporate and Securities practice group.
“James is an important addition to the Sonnenschein corporate team and will be instrumental in building our China practice, particularly with respect to Taiwan and mainland China,” said Edwin Reeser, managing partner of Sonnenschein’s Los Angeles office. “His on-the-ground experience in the region will prove invaluable to our clients.”
Hsu has extensive experience representing domestic and foreign clients in a broad range of corporate matters, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures, technology licensing, and general business and corporate counseling. He also has represented issuers and investors on various types of debt and equity offerings, venture capital transactions, and formation of offshore private equity funds.
Hsu is a member of the board of directors of the Asian Business League of Southern California and the advisory board of California State University Northridge’s Center for China Finance and Business Research. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
Hsu earned a J.D. degree from the UCLA School of Law, where he was the editor-in-chief of the UCLA Asian Pacific American Law Journal and articles editor of the UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. He also received a B.A. in political science from UCLA. He joins Sonnenschein from Jones Day in Los Angeles.
