Choi comes to Sonnenschein from the legal department of America Online, Inc., where he was in-house counsel for corporate and regulatory affairs.

“Zenas has extensive knowledge of and experience with broadband and voice-service transactional and regulatory issues,” said Douglas Bonner, who co-chairs Sonnenschein’s Communications and Media practice in Washington. “His depth of knowledge of regulatory issues and transactional skills will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”

While at AOL, Choi provided transactional and regulatory support to AOL's business units, including significant contributions in the development of a phone-to-phone voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) product, negotiation and drafting of numerous network services and Internet-focused agreements, and advising on FCC and state regulatory issues. Previously, Choi was an associate with the Telecommunications & E-Commerce Group at Swidler Berlin Shereff Friedman, LLP, where he had significant responsibility advising emerging telecommunications and technology companies on competitive telecommunications regulatory issues.

Choi earned a J.D. degree from Boston University School of Law and a B.A. degree in economics, cum laude, from Northeastern University.
