Sonnenschein’s Los Angeles Office Receives Public Counsel’s Law Firm Pro Bono Award

The nation’s largest pro bono law firm, Public Counsel, honored our Los Angeles office on June 8 with its 2006 Public Counsel Law Firm Pro Bono Award. Partner Robb Scoular proudly accepted the Award on behalf of Sonnenschein’s Los Angeles Office.

The honor was presented at the Public Counsel Law Center’s 35th Anniversary William O. Douglas Award Dinner at The Beverly Hilton, an event attended by more than 1,200 people, including law firms, corporations, civic leaders and the judiciary.

Sonnenschein partner Robb Scoular and California Chief Justice Ronald M. George California Chief Justice Ronald M. George, who presented the award to Sonnenschein on behalf of Public Counsel, remarked, “Sonnenschein’s pro bono accomplishments in the past year have been extraordinary. . . The firm’s pro bono commitment extends from its most senior partners to its junior associates and summer clerks. The percentage of professionals participating in pro bono work in Sonnenschein’s Los Angeles office is one of the highest of any firm in recent years. In all of their efforts the firm’s volunteers have demonstrated professionalism, an extraordinary willingness to take on the most complex and difficult matters, sometimes under daunting deadlines, and an abiding commitment to making ‘justice for all’ a reality.”

Accepting the award on behalf of the firm, Robb stated, “We are especially pleased and humbled by this award because it comes as we celebrate Sonnenschein’s centennial year — 100 years of dedication to the principles of integrity, quality and service to those clients who can afford our services, and those who cannot, but need them just as much.”

Robb currently serves on Public Counsel’s Board of Directors and has provided leadership for Sonnenschein’s participation in related projects.
