Event Description: Sonnenschein of counsel Lauren Mack presents "Post-Issuance Complainace for Tax-Exempt Bonds" at the American Health Lawyers Association's annual Tax Issues for Healthcare Organizations Program.  The conference will take place October 8-9, 2007 in Arlington, VA.

The program will cover the following points of discussion:

  • IRS/TEB has increasing interest in post-issuance compliance and is more likely to “cut some slack” in an audit for an entity that has a compliance program
  • Healthcare providers are required under federal tax law to keep track of use of bond proceeds and use of bond-fi nanced facilities; information is sought in audits and necessary when considering a refunding
  • Healthcare providers need to take advantage of allocation of expenditure rules within the permitted time period
