will moderate "After the Closing: Post-Issuance Compliance and Reporting for Tax-Exempt Bonds," an American Bar Association teleconference and webcast, on September 19, 2007.
Government scrutiny on the tax-exempt sector is not limited to governance and community benefit issues. As part of its ongoing compliance initiatives related to tax-exempt bonds, the IRS has recently published a compliance check questionnaire to be sent to over 200 organizations. In addition, proposed Schedule K to the revised Form 990 will require borrowers to provide an expanded range of information on their outstanding tax-exempt bonds.
In this timely teleconference, representatives of the IRS will explain what you need to know about these compliance initiatives. In addition, the panel will explore:
What you can learn from the compliance check questionnaire (even if your organization is not required to complete it)
How to plan for Schedule K
Important document retention issues
Key factors in implementing an internal bond compliance program
