Event Description: Sonnenschein partner Kathleen McDermott will present "Practical Tips for Handling Government Investigations" during the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys' 25th Annual Law Symposium on September 18, 2007 in Chicago, IL. 

This session will address issues involved in criminal and civil investigations of healthcare providers and life sciences companies, with particular emphasis on practical advice for dealing with investigations in today's arduous enforcement environment.  Speakers will discuss dealing with whistleblowers, responding to government inquiries, selecting and defining the role of counsel, advising clients throughout the process, communicating with government agencies, conducting internal investigations, addressing attorney-client privilege/waiver issues, and negotiating settlements.
