Ms. Leaverton is a member of Sonnenschein’s San Francisco transactional practice.  Her experience includes mergers and acquisitions; securities matters; general corporate counseling; financings; real estate acquisitions; and insurance regulatory matters.  She has represented public, private and non-profit companies in diverse industries, including technology, insurance, financial services, sports, retail, education and agriculture. 

Ms. Leaverton’s representations in the area of mergers and acquisitions include:  

  • Andrew Corporation in its purchase of CellSite Industries, Inc.
  • Experian North America in its acquisition of NetFlip.com, Inc.
  • Golden State Warriors in its sale of a 20% membership interest in the company to Bay Area Basketball Partners, LLC.
  • CCY Insurance Services, Inc. in its purchase of Personnel Insurance Services, Inc.
  • SafeGuard Health Services, Inc. in its merger into Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. 
  • Shelter Mutual Insurance Company in its purchase of Haulers Insurance Company.
  • Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. in its purchases of each of  Incognito Entertainment and Zipper Interactive.
  • Wildlife Rescue, Inc. in its merger into The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA.  

Ms. Leaverton is the recipient of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP’s 2007 Rothschild Pro Bono Award.

Ms. Leaverton serves on the Board of Directors of The Teacher Salary Project, Inc., a California nonprofit corporation committed to changing how teachers are valued by producing a documentary film.
