Mr. Foley is a trial lawyer, who concentrates primarily on litigation involving unfair competition, trade secret misappropriation and theft, labor and employment, intellectual property (including patents, copyright, and trademarks) and complex business litigation (including business torts). He has tried more than 40 state and federal cases to courts and juries. He also has conducted or supervised litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout the country (including California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Washington, D.C.) as well as in foreign courts in a number of countries. Mr. Foley also has tried cases before administrative agencies. In addition, he is experienced in utilizing alternative dispute resolution techniques in connection with the arbitration and mediation of cases before the American Arbitration Association, JAMS and court-appointed special masters. 

Mr. Foley has successfully defended various large companies (such as Sara Lee Corporation and Sprint) in class actions and against alleged California Business and Professions Code § 17200 violations. Mr. Foley specializes in presenting complex expert and economic testimony to lay juries and triers of fact. 

Mr. Foley is an active member of the American Bar Association’s Litigation, Labor and Employment, and Tort and Insurance Practice Sections, as well as the Los Angeles County and California State Bar Associations. 

Mr. Foley is a former General Counsel for Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, and he continues to serve on its internal ethics committee after more than 12 years as a member and head of West Coast ethics.
