Mr. Hatton is one of the few lawyers in Europe whose practice focuses solely on the hotel industry. A member of Sonnenschein’s Hotels & Resorts - Global Practice he has significant experience in the acquisition, development and operation of hotels, including resorts and various forms of mixed-use developments. While his practice involves projects from the South Pacific to the Caribbean, the majority are located in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, including the U.K. and Ireland.
Mr. Hatton has substantial experience in the negotiation and documentation of management and related agreements for owners and operators. He also has experience in the structuring of hotel acquisitions and the development of joint venture vehicles, as well as the structuring and documenting projects that bring together hotels with residential and other non-hotel components.
His clients include owners of some of the most significant brands in the international hotel industry and owners of high-profile hotels, both individual and portfolio.
Mr. Hatton began his legal career in Dublin. Prior to moving full-time into the hotel field, his practice in Brussels focused on private M&A transactions across Europe. Before that, he was an M&A and securities lawyer in New York.
