Mr. Blosser is a licensed patent attorney specializing in biotechnology, biochemistry and pharmaceutical patents.  Mr. Blosser heads the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice for the St. Louis office of Sonnenschein.  He also is a leader of the firm’s Life Sciences Group, which includes the Intellectual Property & Technology, Business Regulatory, Venture Capital/Emerging Growth Companies practices and other areas of specialization focused on the needs of Sonnenschein’s life sciences clients.  

Mr. Blosser has counseled clients on the analysis of patent validity and infringement and prosecuted numerous biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent applications.  His years of specialized experience, combined with his knowledge of the changing plant and life sciences patent examinations, has given him an impressive track record for advancing his clients’ interests in molecular biology, genetics, proteomics and other frontiers of patent law.

Mr. Blosser’s client counseling extends to all aspects of managing intellectual property portfolios, including patentability and freedom to operate opinions, agreements related to the transfer and licensing of intellectual property, and due diligence associated with intellectual property aspects of mergers, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestitures.  His guidance regarding clearance and/or acquisition due diligence has supported clients including Sigma-Aldrich, Fresenius Medical Corp., Monsanto and other large companies in the plant and life sciences and pharmaceuticals industries.

With equal focus, Mr. Blosser manages complex biotechnology litigation and multibillion-dollar transactions and mergers.  In this area, he served as lead counsel on the brief and issued oral arguments before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in the successful landmark appeal, In re Deuel.

Recently, Mr. Blosser was selected by his peers as a “Best Lawyer in America” for the specialties of biotechnology and intellectual property law.  He serves as a frequent speaker on protecting intellectual property and due diligence relating to venture capital and emerging technologies.

Mr. Blosser is a past chairman of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis’ Intellectual Property Law section, for which he received the President’s Outstanding Service Award.
