Mr. Wick is a member of Sonnenschein’s Litigation Practice with experience in antitrust, construction, bankruptcy, corporate governance, federal tax controversy and civil RICO litigation.
Mr. Wick’s litigation experience includes arbitrations, trials in state and federal courts, and appellate work in various intermediate courts and the United States, Illinois, and Delaware Supreme Courts. He recently obtained certiorari from the United States Supreme Court with a reversal and remand to the Illinois Supreme Court in Estate of Lowe ex rel. Harris v. Apex Tax Investments, Inc., 547 U.S. 1145 (2006). Following his representation of Mary Lowe's estate, the Cook County Public Guardian awarded Mr. Wick its 2007 Advocate of the Year Pro Bono Award for his "outstanding, zealous and tenacious pro bono work . . . in the Illinois and United States Supreme Courts."
In his antitrust practice, Mr. Wick has represented clients ranging from a major foreign corporation defending against allegations of price-fixing in the international electrical and mechanical carbon products markets to a local youth sports league entitled to an antitrust exemption as an affiliate of a United States Olympic Committee-sanctioned national governing body.
Mr. Wick has experience representing debtors, committees, and individual creditors in bankruptcy proceedings and has litigated numerous valuation disputes. In addition, he has represented contractors and owners in construction disputes involving fraud and breach of contract actions, including the representation of various ownership interests in a prominent Michigan Avenue theme hotel. He also has litigated disputes involving issues of corporate governance, including breach of duty and aiding and abetting claims, and has experience representing plaintiffs in cases asserting claims under the RICO Act.
Mr. Wick has written extensively on issues regarding the attorney-client privilege and often consults on issues related to the application of the privilege and the work product doctrine, including for an episode of the television show “The Practice.”
Mr. Wick was named a “Rising Star” in litigation by Illinois SuperLawyers in 2009.
